Caravan protection. Road Defense: Outsiders ReviewA mixture of tower defense and twin-stick shooter. Early access. The game is announced for the Windows platform. The gameplay is a twin-stick shooter with tower defense elements. The game has an atypical concept. From a certain starting point a car departs along a given path. At the same time, zombies of varying strengths come from all sides and try to destroy it. Countering this is our hero, who must shoot enemies in twin-stick shooter mode, and towers that can be placed at given points along the route help him in this. There are two ways to lose a race, either the hero dies or we lose three cars. When enemies die, experience crystals drop from them, for which our hero is temporarily upgraded. When you level up, you get an improvement in one of your passive skills. For each car saved, a reward is given in local dollars. We use them to buy and upgrade defensive towers. By the way, there are a decent number of types, ranging from pistol to bomb-throwing, with different damage, rate of fire and damage radius. For the destruction of the www.dynabet.co.uk zombie population, a reward in turtles is given. More killed, more profit. Skulls are used to upgrade the hero globally. You can increase passive skills or increase the amount of starting gold, which will have a positive effect on towers. Enemies attack in large groups from different directions, and the further along the passage, the more powerful opponents approach. The strongest I’ve seen so far are zombie machine gunners. Our hero has two types of weapons: a kind of shooting thing (it greatly changes its parameters when leveling up, so it’s difficult to answer what it is) and a throwing homing hatchet. When the car we are escorting is safe, we still need to finish off all the zombies in order to start the next caravan. Enemies begin to attack exclusively the hero. At the moment there are four stages-levels where battles take place. From the first location to the fourth, the difficulty increases due to the lengthening of the path that the caravan must overcome and the reduction of points where defense towers can be located. Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize. + Minimalistic but nice graphics. + Good music and sound. + Good global and intra-race hero leveling. + Many types of enemies that actively attack. + Unusual protection concept. — Overall small amount of content in some areas. The hero has only two types of weapons (and they don’t promise any more), four cards (they promise two more). — No Russian language text. The level of required knowledge of English is low. CONCLUSIONS OBJECTIVE A fun twin-stick shooter with tower defense elements. CONCLUSIONS ARE SUBJECTIVE Nice big battles with hordes of increasing enemies. Good hero leveling. Our small arsenal of actively used weapons and the small number of levels are somewhat disappointing. PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments. |
